PPMC
History
|
- Established in 1997 to improve local public transportation,
PPMC, originally Peak Mobiltiy 21, organized when El Paso County
discussed ending support for transit. Through strong
community leadership and one failed initiative in 1999, PPMC has been
the leader in advocacy for increased regional multi-modal
transportation.
- Working with business and community leaders PPMC played a
key role in the success of the 2004 RTA initiative creating a dedicated
funding source for public transit as well as additional dollars for
roadway and bridge infrastructure and roadway maintenance.
- The Pikes Peak region will grow by another 200,000 people
in the next 25 years. Due to the advocacy of PPMC, transit
will be part of the solution to future transportation
problems.
